In Jordan & Seale 1907:5 (Ref. 27370). Reported from Lobster Bay, Cape D'Aguilar (Ref. 33067). Also reported from Sharp Island, Hoi Ha Wan, and Tung Ping Chau (Ref. 94637). The species was observed on 2 to 10 occasions during 400 dive surveys on artificial reefs (Ref. 119494). Used to be more common during the 1910s. Local population declined due to overfishing (Ref. 128523). Sold in live fish markets. Caught using hooks and lines (Ref. 125552). Also Ref. 125586.
